Bathroom Design Trends for 2025

Bali inspired bathroom, Arto Tile

Whether you are an interior designer or an enthusiastic DIYer, you know that tile is still the primary material for bathrooms. It is also a means to creating a sense of comfort, style, practicality and personality. At Horizon Tile, we’ve been scanning for design shifts that our customers may expect to see or be searching for in 2025, and we’re jazzed about what we’ve found.

2024 saw strategically placed large format tiles, free-standing tubs as focal points, a use of multiple textures, and tendency toward calming colors to create the ever-popular spa-like feel. This new year, we’ll see more of that, but also the employment of matte tiles, again the mixing of textures and patterns, bolder colors - think maximalism - and a continued preference for natural elements and those that appear natural. Woodlook tiles are going to be popular, as well as the incorporation of sustainable and earth-friendly materials.

MATTE PORCELAN TILE

Matte finishes are expected to dominate, as they offer a contemporary and understated elegance suitable for bathrooms. Mix them with other materials, or in a variety of sizes, even a blend of glossy and matte tiles, and you have something new and worth a second look.

TERRAZZO TILE

The timeless appeal of terrazzo continues, due to its durability, minimum upkeep, environmental sustainability, and unique patterns make it a favored choice for bathroom floors and walls. Our preferred vendors like Artistic Tile carry loads of options. Terrazzo manages to be both retro and a revelation in 2025.

MIXED SHAPES & PATTERNS

Utilizing tiles of different shapes and creating intricate patterns can add a personalized touch to bathrooms, enhancing the visual appeal of even the smallest space. If you are overhauling a larger bathroom area, you’ll have room to play. Just as we’re seeing more color combinations, designers are embracing variety in tile sizes and styles.

EARTHY & NEUTRAL

If you (or your client) prefers peace in the “rest” room, then you’ll be heartened to hear that neutrals are still very much in play. Sterile bright whites are subbed out for teracotta, sage greens, pale blues, and deeper shades of parchment. Mixed with wood-look tiles, and subtle metal accents (brushed gold and bronze fixtures are making a comeback in 2025), neutrals are relaxing. Designers are still seeing the popularity of spa-like bathrooms, and neutrals mixed with other materials, free-standing tubs, natural wood accents, and simplified windows all achieve this.

NATURAL, WOODLOOK TILE

Its ability to mimic the aesthetic of real wood while being suitable for wet environments make woodlook tile popular again in the coming year. Expect to see more unique grain patterns, varied plank sizes, and bolder wood tones in bathroom designs. And don’t forget, it’s durable, low-maintenance and checks all of those trending boxes: spa-like, natural, and ambient calm.

THINK BOLD

While neutrals whisper elegance to some, they scream bland to others. For those who would rather show more personality - the maximalists among us who say “more is more” - there is a wide space for you, too. 2025 will see more vibrant tile choices for those who are ready to go bold. Used in a single stand-out feature, and in deep hues of midnight blue, emerald green, deep purple and the like, your bathroom can show off your personality. The zeitgeist these days is trending toward making a statement rather than hand-wringing over resale value. Think large patterns, multiple textures, even cleverly placed mosaics as part of your design.
